Career Story

I grew up in Northern Ireland and graduated from high school there. I studied computer systems engineering at university in Manchester, England. As part of my degree I spent a year working for British Telecom, as a software engineer. After graduating I worked for a Canadian telecoms company in London, England. They moved me to Ottawa. I worked in fibre optics for around 15 years, before joining IBM. At IBM I worked as a software engineer and advisor with a range of their big accounts - international retail companies, government agencies, aircraft manufacturers, and more, before managing a small team creating mobile apps on IBM Cloud. Recently I joined Google in Waterloo as a software development manager.
