Job Description

As the Fire & Life Safety Educator with Waterloo Fire Rescue, my main job is to educate residents in the city on fire and life safety. Every fire department in Ontario must educate its residents on fire and life safety.

In addition to this, I take care of the media relations and our social media accounts.

Career Story

  • I graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology in the Fire Protection Engineering Technology Program.
  • I worked in private industry as a fire alarm service technician.
  • Following this, I worked at the University of Guelph as a Fire Prevention Officer/First Responder in their fire department.
  • I then started working for municipal government. I worked as a Fire Prevention Officer with the Town of Oakville Fire Department. In this role I inspected buildings to ensure they met the requirements of the Province of Ontario Fire Code. In addition, I was a Fire Investigator and Building Inspector.
  • Prior to my current role I was a Continuing Educator Instructor at Mohawk College where I taught fire protection systems and fire code courses.
