Exploring the Future of AI, Tech, and Entrepreneurship
May 6, 2026
Students and community members explored careers in AI, technology, and entrepreneurship through expert panel discussions and Youth Creativity Fund student showcases.
The future of work was the focus of an inspiring evening at Waterloo Public Library as students, parents, educators, and community members came together for our Explore Your Future in the AI Economy event.
Designed to help youth better understand emerging careers in AI, technology, and entrepreneurship, the event brought together industry professionals, researchers, educators, and founders to share real-world insights into the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Moderated by Aasha Khan, Student Founder of Youth Tech Labs, the panel explored everything from post-secondary pathways and startup culture to the growing importance of creativity, adaptability, and hands-on learning in future careers.
Our panelists included:
Camelia Nunez, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Conestoga College
Sean Rose, MASc Student, Health AI and Analytics Lab, University of Waterloo
Danielle Joworski, Program Manager, AC:INCUBATE, Accelerator Centre
Ayoola Gbade-Bello, Founder, Kintrace Technologies Inc.
Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to hear firsthand what it’s really like to work in innovation-driven industries while learning about the many different pathways available to students interested in exploring careers in tech. One of the biggest takeaways from the discussion was that there is no single “perfect” route into the industry — curiosity, community involvement, experimentation, and a willingness to learn can all play an important role in shaping future opportunities.
The event also featured student showcases from Youth Creativity Fund participants, giving attendees the opportunity to see how youth in Waterloo Region are already bringing innovative ideas to life. From AI drones to robotic arms, these projects highlighted the creativity, technical skills, and entrepreneurial thinking young people are developing through hands-on experiences and community support. It was inspiring to see attendees connect directly with these young creators and learn more about the impact the Youth Creativity Fund is having across the region.
