What happens when you bring entrepreneurs into the classroom? You inspire youth to explore their ideas.
Inspiring the Next Generation: BEP Partners with WDSB for Entrepreneurial Pilot
There’s a unique kind of magic that happens when the classroom meets the "real world." Recently, the Business and Education Partnership (BEP) had the privilege of fueling that magic by providing volunteer speakers for an exciting new Entrepreneurial Pilot Project launched by the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).
The goal? To spark the spirit of innovation in Grade 7 and 8 students. This wasn't just a lecture; it was an opportunity for young minds from various local schools to see the faces behind the businesses and hear the "why" behind the hustle.
Real Stories, Real Impact
To help the student teams navigate their own entrepreneurial journeys, we brought in two local leaders who know exactly what it takes to turn an idea into reality.
Camelia Nunez: The Visionary’s Journey
Camelia shared her insights on what it means to build something from the ground up. Her story emphasized the importance of passion and persistence—qualities that resonated deeply with students who are just beginning to identify problems they want to solve in their own communities.

Ryan Brooks: Navigating the Path
Ryan took the students behind the scenes of his entrepreneurial path, offering a candid look at the challenges and triumphs of business ownership. His session provided the students with practical inspiration on how to pivot, adapt, and keep moving forward when things don't go exactly as planned.

Why Mentorship Matters
For Grade 7 and 8 students, entrepreneurship can often feel like a buzzword. But when they hear from people like Camelia and Ryan, it becomes a career path.
By sharing their personal narratives, our speakers helped the student teams realize that:
Failure is a data point, not a dead end.
Curiosity is the most valuable asset an entrepreneur owns.
Local support is everywhere—they just have to ask.
Building the Future Together
The BEP is incredibly proud to support the WRDSB in this pilot project. Seeing the creativity and drive in these middle-school teams confirms that the future of Waterloo Region’s economy is in very capable hands.
A huge thank you to Camelia Nunez and Ryan Brooks for donating their time and wisdom to inspire our local students!
