The Future of the Court: Local Students Tackle a KW Titans' ICE Challenge

March 26, 2026

Energy was at an all-time high today at The Aud! We brought together the bright minds of our local schools for an ICE Challenge with the KW Titans.

Today, the KW Titans hosted local schools for an ICE (Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship) Challenge that proved the next generation of problem-solvers are ready to play.

The mission? To solve a real-world puzzle for our home team: “How might the KW Titans attract more fans to attend home games at The Aud?”

More Than Just a Game

While the Titans are known for their high-flying dunks and buzzer-beaters, today was about the work that happens off the court. Students spent the day diving deep into design thinking, brainstorming ways to bridge the gap between the community and the stadium seats.

The students focused on key areas like:

  • Engagement: Creating "can't-miss" halftime experiences.

  • Accessibility: Making it easier for families and students to join the fun.

  • Digital Buzz: Leveraging social media to build a local fan movement.

From the Classroom to the Hardwood

It wasn't all just theory and sticky notes. The highlight of the day was when students got to pitch their innovative ideas and—the cherry on top—meet the KW Titans players and staff! Seeing the students interact with professional athletes brought a unique layer of inspiration to the event. It wasn't just a school project anymore; it was a chance to influence the future of professional sports in Kitchener-Waterloo.

"The energy these students brought to The Aud today was incredible. Their fresh perspectives are exactly what we need to keep the Titans' spirit growing in this community."

Why the ICE Challenge Matters

Events like these, are vital because they take learning outside the four walls of a classroom. By tackling a real-world problem for a local organization like the Titans, students learn that their ideas have value and that "problem-solving" is a skill that can build careers—and communities.

A huge thank you to the KW Titans for being such gracious hosts and to all the students who brought their A-game today. The future of the fan experience is looking very bright!
