Job Description

I am a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I have worked in a variety of nursing roles within the hospital and community. Currently, I assist a surgeon in the operating room with surgery for patients with cancer. I then take care of these patients in the hospital after their surgery. As a NP, I can order medications and tests to make sure that patients are healing. I work with a team of professionals to get the patient home safely after their surgery.

Career Story

I completed a nursing degree and worked as a frontline nurse for 5 years. I completed a master’s degree in nursing and then started teaching nursing both to students and in the hospital as a clinical educator. I completed a nurse Practitioner certificate and worked in primary care in northern Ontario. I completed a surgical first assist certification and took a position as a surgery nurse Practitioner at St. Mary’s General Hospital. I assist with surgery in the operating room as well as take care of the surgery patients afterwards.
