Conestoga CollegeJob Description
My current career is to teach people the skills they need to succeed in being a mechanic. Previously in my career I started off in automotive repair as an apprentice and a licensed technician first starting out in a general repair shop and moving on to a Ford dealership. Once I achieved my technician status as an auto mechanic I switched over to Truck and Coach repairing transport trucks and trailers that bring goods all over the country. Once I completed my apprenticeship and got my license for truck and coach technician I transitioned over again to Heavy Equipment repair working on Bulldozers, Excavators, Loaders and machines that build roads and buildings. Towards the end of my career as a technician I became a remote site fly in field service technician and worked on Giant mining equipment on top of a mountain in the arctic. This was one of the highlights of my career as a technician. My hobby has transitioned from my life as a technician and I am a crewmember on a professional NHRA Top Fuel race team racing our 12,000 Horsepower , 330 mile per hour Top Fuel Dragster at tracks all over North America in the Mission Foods Drag Race Series. I am also building my own 4000 Horsepower 57 Thunderbird Nitro Funny car to drag race at a more local level. I live eat and breath building and fixing things and I am fortunate to now be able to pass that knowledge along and inspire the next generation.

Career Story
I did terribly in high school barely achieving passing grades all through school. It wasn't until I figured out how to relate what I wanted to do with what I was learning that I became successful and interested to learn. I signed up for a high school co-op at an auto shop in Grade 11 or 12 and that gave me the opportunity to find something I was actually good at. After I completed high school I went directly into an apprenticeship as an auto technician and that started my career. After achieving my 3 technician licenses I knew I wanted to teach and pass along knowledge so I applied for a teaching position at Conestoga and was accepted for the position. Teaching has been an incredible yet challenging journey and I'm so excited for the opportunity to do this. Best thing I've ever done!
