Job Description

I’m a Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager working on road reconstruction projects, including adding active transportation features like sidewalks and bike lanes, and upgrading infrastructure such as water pipes and sewers. My work helps improve the infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Career Story

I studied Civil Engineering (Structural) at Western University. I decided to take an extra year to finish my degree — typically a four-year program — to manage my workload and reduce stress, which gave me more time to focus and get the most out of my courses.

During school, I worked a summer co-op with a consulting engineering firm in Toronto and realized how much I enjoyed working in consulting. After graduation, I accepted a full-time offer with the same company in their Waterloo office. Even though I had never lived in Waterloo before, I decided to take the opportunity and build my career there.

I started working as a Project Coordinator, assisting with all aspects of municipal road reconstruction projects — everything from proposal preparation, cost estimates to reviewing designs. Over time, I took on more responsibility and grew into leading projects myself. Now, I'm a Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager, specializing in municipal infrastructure and transportation projects. I focus on integrated road projects that often include active transportation features like sidewalks and bike lanes. I’m involved in all parts of project delivery, from reviewing detailed engineering drawings to preparing construction contracts.
