A public health inspector is like a referee for health and safety in the community. Instead of watching sports, they watch over places like restaurants, schools, pools, and parks to make sure everyone is following the rules that keep people and the environment safe.

Career Story
In high school, I focused on and enjoyed science (biology and chemistry), math, English, and Physical Education, particularly Kinesiology. After high school, I completed a degree in Kinesiology at Western University. After which, I completed a 2-year advanced standing degree in Public Health at Ryerson (now TMU). I worked as a Certified Public Health Inspector (PHI) in Waterloo Region for approximately 10 years. While working as a PHI, I completed a Master's in Health Studies through Athabasca University. In 2012, I joined Conestoga College to lead the development and delivery of the Bachelor of Environmental Public Health Degree Program, training future public health inspectors. While at Conestoga College, I completed a PhD is Public Health and Health Systems through the University of Waterloo.
