Operational Engagement & Innovation Manager

Capital Paving

Job Description

My current role at Capital would be described to an 8th grade student as the puzzle piece that connects the office to our construction projects. In the field of construction there is lots of roles but those roles need support. I need to make sure that everyone is working safe and that all their goals for their careers are put in a plan so we can help you grow. Sometimes we don't always know what we want to do, and even when we think we do that may change when we actually start doing the work. My job is along the way that your goals are mapped out and a plan is made to keep the goals a reality, and temperature check along the way!

Career Story

I started out laboring for my family business in the Agriculture Sector building large dairy barns. I moved from there to laboring for a General Contractor that worked on large scale Government Infrastructure. From there I stayed with the same Contractor but moved into a lead hand on major projects working as a Project Foreman & Scheduler. I changed companies and transitioned from laboring to Health & Safety after my younger brother was injured in a work place accident that changed my outlook on the industry. I worked for that large GC as a Safety Coordinator, to a safety lead, to an Assistant Site Superintendent. 3 years later I moved to my current home Capital Paving. I was hired as a their first female Site Superintendent when I was in the role for 1 year and moved to my position now in Senior Management.
