Career Story

I went though high school intent on becoming an architect. I took arts, math, and science courses and was laser focused on this goal.

I wasn't accepted into the architecture program I applied to, but was offered Urban Planning instead. I spent a year in the program, but it wasn't a good fit for me. I couldn't see how what I was learning at school would translate into a job.

At the same time, I was working part time at Starbucks, and realized I really enjoyed serving people. I switched gears and decided to pursue a diploma at college for hospitality management.

After graduating from Conestoga College, I worked for 3 years at a catering company, and then 8 years at a museum in the guest services department. I now work in another museum applying my skills in customer service, event management, and operations.
