Virtual Career Events

During the 2021-2023 school years, we offered monthly webinars featuring career speakers around specific themes. The virtual events have been discontinued but the live recordings are a great resource for young people and their families to learn about career options from real people in our community.

The electrical engineer my son and I spoke with at WalterFedy was great. The openness for sharing why he chose the field, high school classes that he took, why he loves his job, and the opportunities sparked excitement. My son left that conversation and said ‘this is what I want to do.’

I learned that there are so many more options that what I previously thought there was.

—Student

Talking to professionals in the field and making those connections at such a young age is so beneficial . It also helped me as a parent to understand my daughter’s needs and wants more so that I can assist her more effectively.

—Parent

We recommend the event to anyone in high school or grade 7-8. The number of employers that came out to the event was very impressive. Representatives were knowledgeable and helpful. We learned a lot from them.

—Parent and Student

We were most impressed by the knowledgeable staff of various organizations and businesses who shared their enthusiasm with us. We talked to a number of employers and organizations who showed a real interest in us and shared their experience with coop students and educational backgrounds required.

—Parent

Not only is it a good networking opportunity to gain some shine on your own business but it is also rewarding to know you are able to reach out to the younger generation.

It is a great way to influence tomorrow’s workforce and present the benefits of your careers to youth and their parents.
